#43 Snowy Egret

Described as the bird that walks on golden slippers, the Snowy Egret was persecuted in this country, not for its gold, but for its delicate plumage. They avoided extinction when legislation was finally passed providing them protection. Luckily for them we came to our senses before it was too late, and hopefully they will grace our wetlands with their beauty for generations to come.
